It has two places for cd drives but only one drive installed. If so, would I have to buy an external drive? My computer is a dell. Can itīe switched to that drive? Could it be possible the drive has just gone out? Ive heard they do that. What do you mean by a dud drive? The only other drive I have is the recovery drive. Tried to go into the system setup and tell it to boot from the cd rom drive but if i did it right it totally acted like I never did it and just booted up regularly. Its getting power because if the drive is open and I restart the computer it closes on its own. I'm not a computer expert by no means so this may seem way off but am I wrong for thinking that if it was aconnection problem it wouldnt even open or close.
